Our team was formed organically. We frequently met at the Makers' asylum while working on our individual projects, until a time we started collaborating, adding our skills to solve the problem, that's why we call ourselves ADDWORKS. Makers asylum is the place where we honed our hands-on prototyping skills and learned how to train other people.
Our love of building things and complementary skillset is what keeps us together. We always collaborate with people from different backgrounds be it established businesses or architects, doctors, artists, musicians, or just someone with an idea and opportunity. Collaborations are how we've managed to serve such a wide range of industry.
Have a look at our learning experiences, those are just fun projects we built cause we can and also explore prototyping techniques like woodworking, laser cutting, welding, 3D printing etc.
An experienced aerospace engineer and an academician consulting the industry in simulation engineering for the past 8 years.
An experienced design engineer practising product development and rapid prototyping for the past 5 years.
Highly experienced electronics expert known for speedy proof of concepts and prototypes.
The Lost Party wanted us to create an interactive installation for their camping section which would allow people to jam with one another. We built the HEXAMIX using SEMI and ATOM.
This was a fun build, got to work with Nonmetal laser cutting, waterjet cutting, metalworking and some carpentry
Each one of us is constantly interacting with our environment, however, we remain unconscious of the sound generated by our interactions within the environment. We began studying the material responses generated from interactions in our day to day lives. We started with a wooden table and studied its internal response and the way sound propagated within the material.
We decided to convert our study into an installation for the MusicTechSundays session based on Acoustic Signatures to demonstrate the Material Signatures.
We have categorised this installation into four parts
To start with we are analysing the sound made by the response of the wooden table to your five hand movement Nail Tap, Slap, Bang, Knock.
Our aim was to study the feedback created by our various interactions with the materials. We found that using the material properties of wood, synthesising sound; results are sometimes non-intuitive as materials respond differently to different interactions, internal vibrations passing within the material differ from vibrations emitted in the air around it. Also, the speed of sound within the material adds a unique aspect.
At the same time, it opens up new horizons for the performer, who can explore the physical world further and start perceiving new sounds in a way as he or she interacts with their immediate environment.
Wheelchair capable of being integrated with paragliders.
This build was part of the event organised by Makers Asylum, Mumbai called Steam Fabrikarium. An initiative focused on improving capabilities of the differently-abled, in collaboration with My Human Kit, France. Held under the umbrella of Bonjour India 2017-2018, Fabrikarium brought together 65 participants and 20 mentors from India and France.
360 degree camera rig for DJI Phantom P3 drone using 8 Go pro HERO cameras
Before a single 360-degree cameras were accessible, Rahat came up with a crazy idea of using 8 Go pro cameras and then stitch the images to get 360 deg view. Based on the FOV of the cameras we calculated the optimum positions to place the cameras so as to avoid hitting the blade and minimize the interference by propeller rotation, This was the very first project where we got to play with flexible 3D printed TPU to reduce vibration of cameras in flight.
Inspired by the Kinetic Rain installation at Changi Airport in Singapore, we tried our hand to recreate the same effect, discovered that much more could be done with this concept and lighting.
Intended to develop a high-pressure washer for this acid reactor vessel, ended up testing with a low-pressure pump and the high precision pressure washer turned into a fountain. With some lights and a laminar flow attachment, we could have great installation.
